Storyline: Encroaching Darkness

Introduction

The Prince rubbed his forehead. It had been a long night, and not even past midnight. He was no longer able to handle the influx of problems coming into his city.

It had worked well for years. The Prince had used the chaotic aftermath of the British retreat to rise to his current position. With the threats from within gone with elders, he had cleverly manipulated the Sabbat and the Kuei-Jin against each other, ensuring that his power grew strong within his domain.

It is no longer so simple any more. A recent series of set-backs have convinced others that the Prince's hold on the city is not quite so iron clad as it used to be. There are those who have even managed to turn parts of the populace, both kindred and kine, against him.

And then there was the customs report. More and more kindred are entering the city, and strange inconsistencies have appeared in the shipping records over that past months.

Alone and isolated, a Camarilla outpost deep within enemy territories, help would be slow to arrive, to say the least. The Prince rubbed his forehead again and feared for the worst.

Rules

Format

The Encroaching Darkness V:tes Storyline League will be played as a series of draft games, played using the Recursion Limited rules. The games will be played with three to five packs, as determined by the event organizer.

Cards can be drafted from any set. Each player can choose which sets he or she wishes to draft, and in what order they want to draft the packs.

Deck Construction

Players will construct their decks based on the V:EKN 2010 Tournament Rules for Limited Deck Composition (7.2.1), with minimum crypt and library sizes based on the total number of packs drafted for each round.

Players may freely modify the crypt and library selections for their decks between games, restricted by the cards they have drafted for that particular game.

Game Rules

After cards have been drafted before each game, game play follows Standard Limited Tournament and current V:EKN 2008 Tournament rules.

If a player controls the edge at the start of his/her turn, he/she is declared the winner of that game, and gains VPs as if he/she has ousted each of the remaining players in order, starting from his/her prey. This can result in a Game Win even if that player does not have enough VPs to claim a Game Win, and even if another player can claim the Game Win.

Wining and Prizes

Game Wins, Victory Points, and Tournament Points should be calculated and tallied for each round played in order to determine the league winner at the end of the event.

Rewards and Reporting

Since this is a limited event, no clan-based tally will be maintained. Instead, game winners should choose to support or oppose the current regime as well as a key minion which best reflect the deck they played.

Event reports should indicate the winning faction. The report should also indicate the winner's key minion. Results from the event will influence the new Storyline Singapore event.

Ruling: Sequencing of Cards That Give Additional Strikes

Looks like we've been wrong about this. Cards that generate additional strikes are not similar to bleed modifiers (i.e. you are not restricted from playing Quickness or Hell-for-Leather after having gained additional strikes from another source).

V:tES Storyline for Spring 2010

Looks like the next storyline event is upon us.

From the V:tES Storyline Website:

2010 Spring:

Battle Lines:

It has long been foretold that when the Antediluvians rise their descendants will be recalled to meet their founders. On that day the children of the ancients will be consumed, driven mad, or destroyed. But what of those vampires who through tricks of time or manipulations of the blood have no single Antediluvian they call their progenitor? What of the bloodlines?
Emissaries of the Bahari have approached the bloodline elders. They bring dark warnings and a message of hope. The bloodlines have a chance to survive the coming cataclysm. But they must renounce the father of their kind and swear allegiance to Lilith, the Dark Mother. They are faced with a terrible choice. Do they heed the warnings and join the servants of Lilith? Or do they remain true to all they have known and remain loyal to Caine? Faced with these choices debate, subversion, and civil war breaks out among and between the bloodline clans. They must choose which side they are on. The Battle Lines are drawn.
